Request to be added to a profile group

This page lists all the groups that are used by the Pierce County ARES Teams and a link to your custom user profile page.

If you have been informed that you need to join a particular group that you are not currently a member of, click on the group link you have been asked to join and then click the Join Group button.

If you need to remove yourself from a particular group, click on the group link you need to leave and then click the Leave Group button.

Let’s get started on your journey through the new requirements and processes that you will need to accomplish going forward with your continuing participation in the Pierce County District 5 ARES groups.

First, you will need to complete a couple of tasks for the leadership team in a timely manner. Your first task is to click the link to Your Custom User Profile Page; this will open a new page. It is important as we move through this process that you leave this page open. When the page opens, click on Groups in the menu bar to display all the groups that you are currently in. Review the listed groups and compare them with what you need to have. You will find the Default User Group that all users are assigned when your account is setup. After reviewing the groups you have on your account, you will need to return to this page to select the groups you want to request to be added to. The first team you will need is the Pierce County ARES team group you participate in. You will also need to request addition to the User Certifications Group (more on this group later). Contact your Team Emergency Coordinator (EC) or your Team Assistant Emergency Coordinator (AEC) to find out what task book level group you need to request addition to. The task book levels are established from the information in your personal task book and your abilities that determine your level of participation in the District 5 ARES Group. This is also a personal choice on what level of participation you would like to provide the group.

After you are accepted into the user certification group you will need to go to your Your Custom User Profile Page and select the User Certifications group. When that page opens, select the Photos link and then select CREATE NEW ALBUM. The Album Title needs to be “your call sign” Certificates (exp. W7AAO Certificates). In the Album Description field enter My Certifications for the Task Book. Leave the Album Privacy as Public and select CREATE. After you have created your album, click on your Photos Album. To add your pictures, select the Add Photos link to add your picture files of your certificates of completion of ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700, ICS-800 and any other certificates you have.

Now for the fun part of this process. The PDF’s you receive from the FEMA ICS classes need to be converted to a picture file. This can be done in several different ways. If you have access to a full copy of Adobe Acrobat that’s great. If not, Adobe has a website that can convert your PDF’s to a JPG, PNG or TIFF file format. The Adobe website is https://acrobat.adobe.com/link/acrobat/pdf-to-image?x_api_client_id=adobe_com&x_api_client_location=pdf_to_image. After the page loads click on the Add Photos link to open the Drag photos here or click to choose photos for uploading window.  You now have two choices to add your pictures to the folder. Dragging your photos into the window or clicking on the window to open a file manager to select the files from your hard drive or other storage device. Select Start Uploading and follow the prompts.  Another way is to take a photo of the printed copy and use that photo for the album.
